Fall Favorites

Hey guys! Sorry I’ve been a little MIA lately, it’s been a busy month full of nonstop go, go, go! In fact, I just flew back to Alabama this morning after enjoying my fall break at home in Orlando. Now I am catching up on my to-do list over a mug of warm coffee because it’s in the 40’s!! Eeep, I am so happy that cold weather is finally here! Anyway… I’m so excited about this post because it has been a long time coming. There has been so much floating around in my head and in my blogging planner for a while now, that I decided instead of stressing about what to post, what not to post, how to stretch each idea into an entire blog post, etc, I would just combine a lot of things into one! Thus, I came up with the idea of Fall Favorites, and I am so excited to share with you the things I’ve been loving beauty, health, & fitness wise this season! With a few extra surprises as well :)) This could become a regular series on CWJL, so be sure to let me know what you guys think! ♡

Let’s dive right in!

BEAUTY: Right now I am LOVING this shower trick I learned from one my friends that I studied abroad with (Beauty blogger Beauty Trickster, check her out) about reverse shampooing! I’m linking her whole post for you here, but the basic gist is that you condition, brush your hair with a wet brush, and then shampoo over that. I have started doing it once a week on Sunday nights and have noticed a huge change in my hair for the past few weeks. It feels so much softer, smoother, and looks so much cleaner and volumized! Seriously, give it a try, and let me know what you think!

HEALTH: My guilty pleasure right now is this simple breakfast sandwich, I am obsessed!!

I make it every single MWF morning, and sometimes on weekends. But I don’t feel ~too bad about it, because it includes some protein, but you can definitely alter any part you want! My quick lil recipe for you…

What you’ll need: Two slices of bread (Sara Lee Artesano Bread is AMAZE for this!), An egg, deli turkey/ham/whatever you prefer, butter, mayo, and sea salt!

What you do: Toast each slice of bread to your desired level of toastiness, crack the egg, and let it cook while buttering the toast, spreading two pieces of turkey (or other meat) on one slice, and mayo on the other. Flip egg, and then when it’s at your desired level of fried, put on top of turkey. Add sea salt, put mayo slice on top, and viola! Literally the yummiest thing, I look forward to it every single morning.

FITNESS: So I am by no means a gym guru and honestly you probably shouldn’t listen to me for anything fitness related, but I am dressing as Demi Lovato for Halloween this year and that means #bodysuit so I decided to put in a little extra work for my body this month, and found that I really enjoyed it! I’m not really a cardio person, though I will run when I really need to let out some steam. However, I walk from my apartment to campus and back every day and love that little bit of exercise, especially now that the weather is getting nicer! What I’ve been doing to work out, has been these little daily workouts I can do in my room, my living room, or at the gym if I really feel like it lol. I am attaching some Pinterest examples for you here and here, but the one I am really into is this one! It’s super short and sweet, but has definitely helped me train my muscles and burn some calories 🙂

MUSIC: Demi Lovato’s new album, Tell Me You Love Me. I’ve been a huge fan of Demi’s for years now, and each year that love only grows stronger. Especially after the release of her YouTube original documentary, Simply Complicated, earlier this month! She is truly an inspiration and my role model. All of her albums have been incredible, but this one is the best, as she has really developed her love for soulful, R&B music and has, I believe, truly found her niche. Rolling Stone even said “Demi Lovato is at her pop-princess best when her majestic wail takes over, as the high points of the singer’s sixth album attest.” She is seriously KILLING IT. Give the album a listen, you won’t regret it.

SNACKS: Lately, my go-to snack for a Law and Order SVU marathon is a bowl of buttery popcorn with a few pieces of candy corn tossed in it. This one might be a hit or miss for you, but for this who love it, it’s the best. If you like sweet and salty combos, just try it. I learned this from someone on IG, and then passed on the love. If you like it, please let me know!

DRINKS: This one is new for me, but I’m loving it so much I just had to share. Lately, on the nights before my early class I have been making Sleepytime tea. I don’t necessarily struggle with falling asleep, but sometimes my sleep schedule jut gets whacked, and I really hate being tired in the mornings when I have multiple classes in a row. Sleepytime tea actually has helped, whether it’s science or placebo-effect, I’m not sure haha! But it’s yummy and makes you feel all warm, cozy, & ready for bed. For extra sweetness, add some honey or simple syrup.

I guess that’s about it for now! Did you guys like this little segment? What else would you like to see? Comment below if you liked any of my favorites, and anything else you want me to talk about next time 🙂
