It’s in the dozens of roses bought on Valentine’s Day. It’s in the glass of red wine on Monday nights. It’s in the hugs after a long day, the chocolate you treat yourself to “just because” and the texts from a loved one who you don’t talk to as often as you would like to.
I’m talking about love. Yes, I know it’s February, and yes, I know it’s cliche, but this month I’m focusing on love. Giving it, receiving it, sharing it. I want to give more than I get and share it as much as I can. If you know me, you know that my favorite musical includes a song that suggests “measuring your life in love.” The older I get and the more I experience, the more I know that that is exactly what I want to do.
I feel it in the “stay warm” texts from my mom, I taste it the dinner Ryan cooks for me, and I hear it in a thousand different songs. I find it in the abundance of handwritten letters that live in a shoebox under my bed, the words that come to life between the pages of my Bible, and the birthday card I mailed to my sister last week.
It’s in the smile from my regular barista who tells me to have a great day, and the grace from my coworkers on that random Wednesday when my train made me late. It’s everywhere all around us, and I want to make sure this February I really truly see it.
This month is a busy one, with friends and family coming to visit, NYFW, musical tickets, yoga classes, Valentine’s Day celebrations and more… I want to make sure I spend as many seconds feeling the love as I possibly can. I hope this intention resonates with you and I hope that you will join me. ♡
