How to get ready in 15 minutes or less

Have you ever been in a situation where you planned out your day and gave yourself plenty of time to get dressed for something you had later in the afternoon but then life gets in the way and you end up spending way too much time at Target, the Starbucks drive-thru takes way longer than it should have, and then to top it all of you catch every single red light? Yeah, me too. And it happened today.

I was going to meet a friend and her roommate for coffee at the cafe in my church before our 4:30pm service. But after the day I had, I got home with only 20 minutes to get dressed and I knew five of those would be spent walking to the parking garage.

So instead of freaking out and letting it get to me, I decided to take control of the situation and view it as a challenge. As in, I am a capable, fashion-forward woman, hear me roar…or more just like, I got this.

T-MINUS 15 MINUTES…

I rolled into the apartment, still sipping my Venti iced coffee, and plugged in my newest obsession, the Illustra Beauty Styling Brush; or as I like to call it, the hairbrush that straightens my hair in four minutes. It is seriously a miracle worker. I had showered last night, so my hair was beyond curly and frizzy. I ran a regular brush through my hair to get out the knots, and then immediately started brushing with the styling one. It had heated up in seconds to 410 degrees and was ready to work its magic. After brushing two layers of my hair, it was straight. I used my real straightener to touch up the ends a few pieces that may have needed it, and then I went straight to my make up.

T-MINUS 10 MINUTES...

I opted to use my drugstore foundation instead of my fancy stuff, due (mostly) to the time constraint but also my inherent laziness. So I made sure I blended correctly, had enough coverage and moved right on to eyeshadow. For Christmas I got the Urban Decay NAKED3 Palette, which is beautiful in every way that eyeshadow can be beautiful. I knew that I would be wearing a tannish/beige-ish shirt to church, so I opted to go simple, but statement-y for eyeshadow. My favorite color right now in the palette is Liar. I’m OB. SESSED. So far, it has gone with anything I wear and looks incredible. It also happens to look great with my Ginger Kylie Lip Kit, but that’s just a bonus. 😉

So I threw on the eyeshadow, swiped a line of liquid eyeliner on each eye, coated my eyelashes in multiple layers of two different types of mascara, and used my trusty ole lip kit. I picked out some jewelry that I thought was simple and would match my outfit and then I approached the serious battle: getting dressed.

T-MINUS 4 MINUTES…

I knew I wanted to wear my light washed skinny jeans and the tan long-sleeved shirt, but the outfit in itself SCREAMED plain Jane. What could I do to amp this up?? A lightbulb went off in my head when I remembered one of my favorite Christmas presents; my sequined clear box purse from Aldo. It’s a statement that would totally make this outfit go from a 4 to a 10. I would just need to wear colored shoes, and make sure it all matched. I threw the clothes on, zipped up my purple Ivanka Trump booties, (sidenote: the link is a different pair of boots because mine are from Nordstrom and apparently 100% discontinued EVERYWHERE, so these are the closest I could find) and slipped the cross body over my shoulder. I did a double check in the mirror, asked my roommate if I matched, & glanced down at my watch.

30 seconds to spare 🙂

See how you can get ready on a time crunch and let me know how it goes! xoxo, JM
