MDW Necessities

Hey, everyone! I am sorry I have been a little AWOL lately… getting into the swing of things has proven to be a little more hectic than I thought! But I am officially a working (interning) girl! I work 9-5 on M/W and on the other days find time to squeeze in some quality family time, gym sessions and dates with the boyfriend. It’s been a busy, busy, busy few weeks, and that’s why I can’t WAIT for Memorial Day Weekend! 🙂

Every MDW, my family and I go to our favorite hotel, the JW Marriott Orlando Grande Lakes. It’s very special to us, and has turned into a major tradition. We can’t wait for three days of lounging by the pool, floating in the lazy river, soaking up the sun, and sipping on some fruity drinks. Ahh, I can already smell the sunscreen!

But before we go, we need to pack (obviously), and as a style blogger, (and honestly just as someone who has a passion for fashion in general), packing is always very serious business. While I was putting together my outfits for the weekend, I thought about how I could write a little something about some Memorial Day Weekend Necessities. Whether you’re going to the pool/beach, a big city, or even just staying at home, MDW is something to celebrate, and I want to help show you how!

  1. A Hat

This may seem a little odd, and kind of along the lines of a no-brainer, but to me, nothing screams “Hey I’m going somewhere for Memorial Day Weekend” like a hat. It could be a floppy hat/sun hat, a baseball cap, whatever your little heart desires. For me, I’m packing my black floppy hat, because sun + my face = burned in 5 seconds. But I will also be packing my “come sail away” denim baseball hat, in case we’re doing something more causal or less beachy, but I still want to be protected from the sun!

2. Portable Speaker (& music!)

This is also a no-brainer, but you’d be shocked how many times I’ve left for a mini daylong or weekend vacation and realized I’ve forgotten speakers. No fun! So I always include it in my list!! My go-to speaker is the UE Boom. It’s waterproof and it’s SO LOUD! It’s not heavy and therefore easy to transport, and mine is teal and white, so it’s cute too!

PS. Looking for some good tunes to play this weekend? Check out my Memorial Day Playlist!

3. Cute Wedges

Chances are, you aren’t going to some huge fancy Memorial Day party, mainly because they don’t really exist. MDW is more for Backyard BBQ’s, Pool Parties, etc. BUT, that doesn’t mean you can’t wear wedges anyway! I am a HUGE advocate for wearing what I want to wear, and being 5’1, that usually includes a pair of wedges or booties. It’s honestly one of my trademark moves. I am bringing my favorite super tall white and gold wedges, because you know, it’s before Labor Day 😉 but you can bring whatever type of wedges you want! It’s just something I always pack, even if I don’t end up wearing them. Throw a pair in your bag, and I promise you’ll be glad you did!

4. Coffee

This is something I can’t go without. I think everyone who has met me for .5 seconds knows this fact. But yeah, I recommend making sure you have enough on hand, because while long weekends can be relaxing, they also can be kind of exhausting. Don’t miss out on the fun because you can’t stop yawning. Chug some espresso and get right back out there! 🙂

I know this list was kind of a random mix of things and it was a rather short and sweet post, but like I said, I’ve been super busy and I just wanted to put a little something out there to help y’all get ready for the weekend. In the first pic I posted, those shorts are from American Eagle and the shirt is See You Monday. I love love love the colored tassels on that shirt,  I think they are SO cute and so beachy. I also recently got my hands on a couple of perfect summertime rompers so keep your eyes peeled for more posts coming soon 🙂

Hope everyone has a LOVELY Memorial Day Weekend!
