As of Wednesday, Summer is officially here! I for one couldn’t be happier that the season full of sunshine, beach time and RELAXATION has finally arrived. With all of the end-of-year mayhem settling down in May, and just starting to get into the swing of things in early June, I’m glad the summer solstice hits us at mid/late June, so that we can start fresh with open minds and open hearts, ready for all that July and August have in store! ☼
With all of that being said, when we usher in summer, we also usher in a million new trends! And while I have never been one to hop on a train faster than I can say “yes, please!”, this season I find myself doing just that! Bright colored maxi dresses are making their appearances across every store this summer, and I couldn’t be happier. Just last week I tried on five in one day, at two different stores. They are everywhere, which is great when it comes to having options in both the style and price category, but it’s also annoying in the “I want to buy them all” category. Alas, I had to settle for just one, and while it wasn’t easy, I followed my heart and went with this one.
It’s bright, it’s bold, it’s comfortable, it’s lightweight… it’s everything I wanted and more. I couldn’t believe my luck when I found it! The beating of my heart in my chest told me it was true love, and I knew it was meant to be, when I saw that not only was the dress on sale, but the store was having a weekend sale on top of that! It was as if all the stars aligned for this exact moment. Thinking back on all my failed attempts and empty handedness at other stores, I couldn’t help but hear “God Bless the Broken road that led me straight to you…” play in the back of my head.
This dress and I are a match made in Heaven, and that is why it took me exactly 3 minutes to know what I wanted to style it with. I let my hair down, put in my fave pair of gigantic gold earrings (they’re super heavy so I don’t like to wear them for long periods of time, but they looked PERFECT with this dress), my new cuff that I’m obsessed with, and then my trusty old pair of red heels that I don’t wear often but am in love with!!
I felt a little bit like Hilary Duff in the Lizzie McGuire movie when she was practicing for the award show with Paolo in that beautiful skirt and red heels.
