Shortly into the wedding planning process, I started seeing cute photos on Pinterest of items to include in a wedding hotel welcome bag. In that instant, I knew I wanted to offer these bags to our guests and Ryan was excited about the idea as well! We ended up saving these for later in the process, but as the wedding got closer, it was exciting for the two of us to work on these. I remember one weekend it was beautiful weather in Brooklyn so we walked down our 5th Avenue for quite some time until we popped into a bar we had never been to for a beer. I pulled out my phone and started a list of everything we wanted to include in the bags, taking note of timing for each, as well as what could actually fit in the budget. It was so important to us that our guests started off the wedding weekend from the second they arrived to the hotel on the right note — and we accomplished just that!
Below is everything we ended up including, along with a little bit about how we packaged it all.
CUSTOM WEDDING NEWSPAPER (Price ranges, I ordered on Etsy, created, edited and designed on Canva and then printed through Staples)
HANDWRITTEN NOTE (Priceless 😉)
Each bag had 2 alka-seltzer hangover packets, a roll of breath mints, one champagne bottle of jelly beans, one door hanger, one set of tissues, one newspaper and one hand-written note from Ryan and I! We also added a few pieces of tissue paper to each one so it looked extra cute!
Putting together these Welcome Bags was one of my favorite parts of pre-wedding preparation. We had so much fun wrapping them up together, signing the notes, talking about how much we loved the newspapers, wondering what the guests would think of the hotel door-hangers, and more! It was so special and truly just built the excitement more and more as the day got closer.
While we initially had a lot stress about how these were going to work, it ended up being simpler than we anticipated. We brought these to our hotel in Ryan’s parents’ car (thank you!) for easy transport and then gave them to the front desk. We just explained what they were and asked that they pleaese give one out per room for each room that checked in under the Miller-Horan Wedding Room Block. We heard from so many guests that these were a hit! It made us so happy to hear that and we’ll forever be grateful that we spent the time and money on this extra special touch. ♡
